Embedded Software

Embedded systems range from portable devices and to large stationary installations, factory controllers, and largely complex systems. Complexity varies from low, with a single microcontroller chip, to very high with multiple units, peripherals and networks.

Design challenges of modern embedded systems are low power consumption, small size, small memory foot print, scalable operating system and low cost per unit.

At STLABS we provide embedded software solutions to the consumer market which includes smartphones, tablets, digital TVs, set-top boxes and portable devices.

Industrial Automation

Automation often requires devices with different interfaces to be able to communicate with each other. For example a controller may need to receive input from a fire alarm system, a lighting system and various sensors all made by different manufacturers. In such cases it is often necessary to convert data from the protocol used by one device to another protocols.

Industrial automation is the use of robotic devices to complete manufacturing tasks. In this day and age of computers, it is becoming increasingly important in the manufacturing process because computerized or robotic machines are capable of handling repetitive tasks quickly and efficiently. Machines used in this field are also capable of completing mundane tasks that are not desirable to workers. In addition, the company can save money because it does not need to pay for expensive benefits for this specialized machinery. There are both pros and cons for a company when it comes to industrial automation.
